This variant runs along the north face of La Sierra de Mijas, passing through Alhaurín el Grande and ending at Alhaurín de la Torre. As is the case with the Gran Senda on the south-facing slope, it is impossible to reach the end of the route by plotting a straight course. The only way is to climb the crests of the mountain range. Don’t forget to enjoy some unique places along the way, such as Jarapalos or “Los Tajos”, and to stop at the perennial springs of El Acebuche, La Piedra or Jarapalos, where you will be able to cool down during the hottest periods.
The vegetation along the walk consists of enormous pine trees, such as the one at El Puerto de la Graja, kermes oaks and pockets of holm oak forest, especially during the climb to Los Tajos from El Acebuche spring. The most attractive and identifying feature of this walk, apart from its powerful views, are the dolomites: rocks that can metamorphose to marble, with fractures that acquire a greyish colour, as a result of weathering.
