  • Ways to tour

Regarding the kind of transport which can be used along different stages of the path, these are divided in those that can be crossed on foot, on a mountain bike, or on a horse. Nevertheless, there is to know that you can walk along the entire stage when this class of routes is indicated, but if you decide to travel on a mountain bike or horse, there is to check that there are no temporary restrictions or town regulations that do not allow their use at some parts of a stage, and then choose alternative way. We also underline that riding a mountain bike on some stages may include travelling by uneven or steep road surface, which requires some or a lot of effort.

    PATCHWORK LANDSCAPE

The valley in Ronda is here wide open between the Angosturas Gully and Las Buitreras Gorge. Although the elevations from the bottom of the valley to the high mountains are between 800 and 1000 metres, there is a large zone of farmland and forest with lower slopes on the left.

The trail goes across that terrain, through oak forest, across unirrigated agricultural land, past farmsteads, houses, riverside gardens, areas of grassland, meadows and forests and thicket by the river.

All of it connected by a well-preserved old traditional paths. There is probably not a big difference between the landscape in the past and now, except the villages and infrastructures, which are in accordance with plentiful Roman villas, wine cellars, winepresses and farming and livestock buildings that can still be seen. This unique rural traditional surrounding is likely to be one of the most attractive features of this trail.

    USEFUL ADVICE

The average altitude is low, although the mountainous surrounding creates a different impression. Whatever the case is, it is cold in winter and it can be really cloudy at the bottom of the valley.
