Inland, active and leisure tourism arouses interestof the French market which is on its way up

About ten French agents will be visiting relevant spots such as El Caminito del Rey until Sunday.

Mr Bendodo highlights afondness this market, which spends more than € 6,500m in Spain, has for the Costa del Sol.

Active and inland tourism attractions, as well as a varied leisure supply of the province, are the main reason for ten French travel and two media agencies to visit this destination today and on Sunday, June 14th.

The travel agents are visiting the Costa del Sol thanks to the advertising campaign organized by Turespaña, Tourism and Trade Department of the Andalusian Government and Air Europa. They are going to visit El Caminito del Rey path, Karting Experience in Mijas, a cable car in Benalmadena, as well as a bird watching show at the top of Calamorro, Puerto Marina, the Bio Park in Fuengirola, the Wine Museum and some hotels which are going to be examined.

Some of the agencies that are visiting the Costa del Sol areNomade Aventure, Wagram Voyages, Avexia Voyages, La Franèaise des Circuits, Le Tourisme d’Affaires, and two media companies: L’Écho Touristique, Tourmag.com.

President of the Costa del Sol Tourism, Elîas Bendodo pointed out that French tourists have a special fondness for this destination, considering that they make decisions based on the weather, price, closeness and safety of places when travelling abroad. 

‘The Province of Málaga is a perfect answer to all their requirements. Nevertheless, it should take advantage of the market which is on its way up with a 11% flights to Spain increase in June and 26.5% more bookings made by tour operators to Iberian Peninsula for the period up to this coming October’, he explained, following data obtained from Turespaña.

Moreover, Mr Bendodo added that the Costa del Sol, as well as other destinations from Portugal or France, feels the drop of journeys to traditional destinations in French tourism. According to the French Tour Operators Association SETO this rates are: Turkey (-42,3%), Morocco (-32,5%) orTunisia (-29,5%).

6,500 Million Euros

The French spend more than € 6,500m a year in our country, and their favourite region, after Catalonia is Andalusia. It obtains 10.4% of this entirenational economic impact.
