El Caminito del Rey has already supplied its visitors with info-trails with Wi-Fi, information, light and USB port points

These devices are in the shape of a mushroom, have solar power supply, and work as an environmental and atmospheric analysis stations, as well as visits control point.

They will also be installed on the Coastal Path and on the Great Málaga Path, which are part of the Great Challenge Project together with El Caminito del Rey.

El Caminitodel Rey supplies its visitors with Wi-Fi, information, light and USB port points. These so called ‘infosenderos’ (info-trails) are structures in the shape of a mushroom that should make the route in El Chorro Reservoir and along the boardwalks over the Gaitanes Gorge easier. There are two of them at each entrance point (in Álora and Ardales) to El Caminito del Rey. Moreover, the info-trails include more options such as night light, useful data transfer, environmental levels control, and early warning fire detection and alarm system.

They improve active and nature tourists’ experience thanks to their Wi-Fi service which offer information about plant and animal life in the area, environmental features of the spot, as well as nearest sights, local hotels, restaurants and traditional shops.

This information supply to users helps building local economy, considering that local shops and restaurants collaborate on the project in order to improve their profit. The establishments will be able to inform about the prices and special offers.

Solar Power Supply and No Expenses

The devices were made by Sunrise Gridfreecompany, with the workers from the now defunct Isofotón. The project was supported by the County Council and the Town Council of Málaga.

The info-trailsuse solar power so they can be placed anywhere and moved depending on the needs. Moreover, they are designed to become part of the environment and cause no damage to it. What is more, no additional expenses are required. The devices supply with twelve hours long lightening.

One of their functions is to gather and storage data for statistics by registering the visitors who access the point, their preferences and the usage of the points. Furthermore, they can be used as environmental stations which collect data about air quality levels, temperature, humidity, wind and atmospheric pressure. They can also detect emissions of some gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, sulphide, ozone or dust in suspension.

The devices can be located with GPS in order to prevent robbery and permit monitoring and an online upgrade. This way they can be managed from distance by the County Council or Town Councils.

They will also be installed on the Coastal Path and on the Great Málaga Path, which are part of the Great Challenge Project together with El Caminito del Rey Path.
