El Caminito del Rey Path has received 23,500 tourists and 70,000 bookings for the period from June to September since it was opened a month ago.
Its web page, www.caminitodelrey.info, has been accessed more than 793,000 times after it was started on 23rd February. Most visits come from Spain and the USA.
The County Council of Málaga forecasts that more than 110,000 people will have visited the boardwalk that go over the Gaitanes Gorge by this summer.
It has been a month since El Caminito del Rey was opened on 28th March. It was a very successful period, considering it has received 23,500 tourists, and 70,000 out of 75,000 bookings for summer, from June to September.All the tickets for June and July have already been booked, as well as the weekends in August and September.Consequently, there are some 5,000 tickets left.
These free tickets can only be obtained at www.caminitodelrey.info.A great demand for seeing the new boardwalk over the Gaitanes Gorge, which is hundred metres above the Guadalhorce, is reflected in the number of users of the web page. The page has been accessed more than 793,000 times since it was opened on 23rd February.Moreover, there is information about the beauty spot that can be found on the booking portal.
The increase in number of bookings allows us to predict the total number of 110,000 people, who will have visited El Caminito del Rey by the end of September. This number is higher than the most optimistic forecast, and it confirms the increase in a national and international demand for this tourist inducement, which was refurbished at a cost of round 6m euros by the County Council.
Out of more than 793,000 website users, who accessed to get informed or book the tickets, 560,000 (seven of ten) are from Spain.The USA is the second most interested country in the path, as 42,000 visits (more than 5%) come from there.Germany, UK, Italy, France, Finland, Portugal and Denmark, in this order, stand out from other countries due to their interest in this tourist attraction and El Chorro.

As for the languages that were mostly chosen at www.caminitodelrey.info, Spanish was the first option (76,6%), and English the second (13,7%).In the case of other two possibilities, German was more frequent choice than French, although the percentage was similar.
According to the company Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol (Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning) men booked more tickets for the route than women (53,4% compared to 46,6%).People between 25 and 34 are the most interested in the path. They suppose 30% of demand, and 24% goes to people who are between 35 and 44.
After them, those between 45 and 54, and 55 and 64 are the most common visitors.Last but one are young people between 18 and 24, and the least common kind of visitors are people older than 65 (6%).
