Itinerary
Easy stage that covers 7.7 km between the municipalities of Moclinejo and Rincón de la Victoria. The route will take about 2 hours and a half, with a smooth profile and a net difference in altitude of 836 meters.
Summary
The last stage of the 242 long-distance path or the Great Path of La Axarquía faces north-east. Walk along the ridge between the Benagalbón River and the Granadillas Stream from Moclinejo. This passage overlaps Cuesta de Granadilla Path. The panoramic view you can have from this drovers’ road is wide and embraces the entire La Axarquía. The hiking rhythm changes before getting to the midway, where you can spot Bartolo Hill and the border of the towns of Moclinejo and Rincón de la Victoria. This is the moment when you need to go downwards along the western slope towards the Granadillas River basin, which you will be following up to Rincón de la Victoria Beach and connect to the Great Málaga Path (Gr-249).
The best
You need to be rather careful as the largest part of the route goes along farm tracks that vehicles can drive along. There are no places where you can supply with water. We do not recommend this walk on hot days as there is no shade along the trail. Due to flood hazard, you should avoid the Granadillas Stream basin in case heavy rain is forecast. The 242 Long-distance Path overlaps official trails such as local trails Moclinejo-Totalán (SL - A 68), the Granadillas Stream - Tío Cañas Hill Local Path (SL A - 83) and the Granadillas - La Capitana Local Path (SL-A 82).
