It was in 711 that Alpandeire was founded, making it one of the first villages built by the Arabs in the Serranîa de Ronda. However, Alpandeire has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as attested to by the dolmens of Encinas Borrachas and Montero.

After the Christian conquest Alpandeire was almost depopulated, getting worse when the Moriscos (converted Muslims) were expelled from the area about the 1570. An order of repopulating the regions in order to avoid the total desertion was given. Christian from other regions were brought to repopulate the towns of Póspitar and Audalázar, today disappeared.

In the 20th century, Alpandeire, as the rest of the towns in the Serranîa, took part in the guerrilla revolts against the Napoleonic occupation at the Independence War (1808-1814). For this reason, they obtained the title of Villa, as an award given by Fernando VII for its resistance.

The route culminates in the way of the orchards, nearby a trough fountain and the former public washing place. You cannot leave the town without visiting the Fray Leopoldo viewpoint, from where you will enjoy of the best views of the Genal valley.
